Gun Shows in Maine 2026: The Complete Schedule and Guide

June 26, 2026J Tarbox5 min read

Maine runs more gun shows than any other New England state — better than a dozen a year, from Aroostook County in the far north down to the southern coast. Most are put on by sportsman's clubs, American Legion posts, and conservation associations, which keeps admission low (several are free) and the atmosphere relaxed and collector-friendly. This is the Maine deep-dive companion to our Gun Shows in New England 2026: Your Complete Schedule and Guide.

Still ahead in 2026

If you're planning now, these are the Maine shows left on the 2026 calendar:

  • September 12–13 — Houlton Gun Show (Fall) at the Millar Ice Arena (John A. Millar Arena), Houlton. Around 100 tables of firearms, ammunition, knives, accessories, and sporting goods. Admission $10. Presented by Freedom Promotions / NE Gun Shows.
  • September 14–15 — Aroostook Sportsman Association Gun Show (Fall) at the Caribou Inn & Convention Center, Caribou. Free admission.
  • October 17–18 — PCCA Annual Bangor Gun Show at the Bangor Elks Lodge (108 Odlin Rd), Bangor. Saturday 9am–5pm, Sunday 9am–2pm. Admission $8 general; $7 for law enforcement, active military, and NRA members; children 12 and under free with an adult.

Looking further out, two southern-Maine staples have already set 2027 dates: the Big Pine Gun Show in Dover-Foxcroft (April 10–11, 2027) and the Biddeford Gun Show (May 15–16, 2027).

Most of these are annual shows — even the ones that have already happened typically return on a similar weekend the following year, so the list is worth bookmarking.

A few shows worth the trip

PCCA Annual Bangor Gun Show (Oct 17–18). Run by the Penobscot County Conservation Association at the Bangor Elks Lodge on Odlin Road, this is one of the state's anchor fall shows — firearms, ammunition, knives, militaria, and sporting accessories, Saturday 9am–5pm and Sunday 9am–2pm.

Houlton Gun Show (Sept 12–13). Freedom Promotions brings roughly 100 tables to the Millar Ice Arena in Aroostook County, a long-running stop for County collectors and dealers.

Twin City Gun & Sportsmen Show (late March). Sponsored by the Auburn Exchange Club at the Lewiston Armory, this is one of Maine's longest-running shows — its 48th edition ran in 2026, Saturday 9am–4pm and Sunday 9am–3pm.

Aroostook Sportsman Association shows (spring and fall). Held at the Caribou Inn & Convention Center, these free, club-run shows are about as far north as the circuit goes.

What to know before you go

Maine has relatively permissive firearm laws compared with most of New England. Federally licensed dealers must run a NICS background check on every sale; Maine does not require background checks on private, person-to-person sales, though federal law still applies. Always confirm current rules before buying or selling.

A few practical tips:

  • Bring cash. Many private sellers don't take cards, and venue ATMs charge high fees.
  • Go early. Saturday morning is when the best tables and rarest finds are still on the floor.
  • Admission is a bargain. Maine's shows are among the most affordable in the region — often free or under $10.
  • Confirm before you drive. Community-run shows occasionally shift dates; check the event listing first.
