The 56th annual Christmas Tree Lighting on historic Bowen's Wharf in Newport is Saturday, December 5, 2026. Festivities begin around 12:30 p.m. with a visit from Santa, followed by an afternoon of performances by local musicians and choruses. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive in Bowen's Basin by boat, weather permitting, and the big tree is lit promptly at 6 p.m. Come early for holiday shopping on the wharf; the restaurants stay open for holiday meals and many shops offer sweet refreshments. Admission is free.
