The Feast of the Blessed Sacrament is the largest Portuguese feast in the world, held each August at Madeira Field in New Bedford's historic Madeira district. Organized since 1915 by Club Madeirense S.S. Sacramento, the four-day festival draws well over 100,000 visitors for traditional Madeiran food (including carne de espeto grilled over open pits and bacalhau), live music on multiple stages, a grand parade, and cultural performances. Admission is free.
