The Grandes Festas do Divino Espirito Santo da Nova Inglaterra - the Great Feast of the Holy Ghost of New England - marks its 40th anniversary in 2026, with the organizer stating the festivities run August 26 to 31 at Kennedy Park in Fall River, Massachusetts. The Azorean religious and cultural festival centers on the Bodo de Leite ethnographic parade from the Portas da Cidade to Kennedy Park, a Solemn Coronation Mass and coronation procession, and concerts by Portuguese and Azorean philharmonic bands, fado singers and cantigas ao desafio performers. The 2026 edition adds exhibitions of Azorean handicrafts and regional products by artisans from the Azores and local makers, plus a book presentation and a commemorative exhibition marking the feast's 40 years. Traditional Holy Ghost sopas and malasadas are served, and the feast opens Wednesday August 26 with a 6:00 p.m. Rosary followed by sopas.
