St. J Sparkles is St. Johnsbury's holiday weekend, with nightlife on Friday evening and family fun all day Saturday across the downtown. The 2026 dates are Friday, December 11 and Saturday, December 12. The weekend packs in more than 50 activities run by local businesses and organizations. Past years have included a fireworks display on Friday night, free photos with Santa, a Saturday craft and vendor event at the St. Johnsbury School, open studios, a free holiday concert at the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, a community singalong and a production of A Christmas Carol, plus a shop-local rewards program. Many activities are free; some carry a small fee or need tickets. The 2026 schedule had not been posted as of late September, so check Discover St. Johnsbury's site or pick up a program at the St. Johnsbury Welcome Center, 51 Depot Square.
