The Machias Valley Farmers' Market serves Washington County's Downeast communities from its grounds on Route 1, across from Helen's Restaurant, with a beautiful view of the Machias River (there's a public boat landing and parking area across the street). The main market runs Fridays 9am–2pm, May through early October, with one or two farmers also setting up a Saturday farm stand (9am–2pm) on the same site. Member producers bring locally grown produce, wild blueberries, meats, baked goods, and jams, alongside annual bedding plants, hanging baskets, and vegetable and herb seedlings — plus Maine-made crafts like sea glass jewelry and woven fiber arts. A vital community resource in one of Maine's most rural regions.
