Piscataquis Valley Fair

The Piscataquis Valley Fair is a down-home country fair held each August on the Piscataquis Valley Fair Association's 50-acre grounds on Fairview Avenue in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. The 2026 edition — the 139th — runs Thursday, August 27 through Sunday, August 30, closing at 6:00 PM Sunday. The fair traces its lineage to an agricultural society chartered in 1840, with the first fair held in 1841; it took its present name in 1927. Entirely volunteer-run, it centers on livestock and youth shows, horse and ox pulling, and exhibition halls of food, produce, flowers and home arts. The mechanical track hosts figure-8, tuff truck, tractor and truck pulls and a Sunday demolition derby, and the grounds include a milking parlor — the first at a Maine fair — with daily milking demonstrations and an adjoining ice cream parlor. Admission is $10 per day for ages 12 and up and $5 for ages 5–12, with children under 5 free; Thursday is Senior Citizen Day at $5. Ride wristbands, sold separately by Smokey's, are $20 Thursday and $25 Friday through Sunday.
